About Us

Triple Mountain Ranch History

Between 1854 and the end of the century, thousands of settlers located to the Clifton area in Central Texas and established the largest Norwegian colony of the southwest. The first Norwegians were drawn to the area because it reminded them of their homeland: natural beauty, abundant water, wildlife and fertile soil.
Triple Mountain Ranch is located in the historic Norse district in Bosque County, TX. This property was one of the original Norse settlements and was established in 1859. The original settlers’ house was built around this time by Ole Canuteson. The ‘pink house’ is still standing unrestored and entering it is like going back in time. The old stone well still sits out front, boarded up and frozen in time. Looking through the planks you can still see that water deep inside that nourished this family and everyone who lived here over a hundred years ago. The large stone outhouse behind the house still stands. An old Victorian bathtub sits lonesome within—likely placed by later descendants, once running water finally made its way to Clifton.
The property remained in the family for over 125 years. The last two descendants lived in the pink house up until their deaths in the 1980s. Marie and Charlotte Aulie were unmarried sisters, and the granddaughters of Ole Canuteson.
After the deaths of the last living heirs, the property was bought by Stan and Linda Gary, a couple who had retired up in the Metroplex and were wanting to get back to the simpler things. They created a church retreat on this property as they felt the land’s beauty brought them closer to God and they wished to share this with others. Their creation, ‘Three Mountain Retreat’, served successfully for over 30 years.  During this time, thousands of people were able to share in community and worship the feeling the land’s natural beauty provided them, just as the original settlers felt over a hundred years prior.
Stan and Linda had built multiple houses, halls, and unique places and spaces to allow people to enjoy community and worship. It was a very popular retreat location for churches across Texas and this country. Unfortunately, the COVID 19 pandemic brought this to an end in 2021 with shutting down large gatherings. Due to this unforeseen hardship, Stan and Linda were forced to sell their beloved property.

Then I Bought It

This is where I come in. When the listing broker showed me this property, I was immediately blown away by its uniqueness and beauty, much like the original settlers and the thousands of people thereafter that have had the privilege of personally experiencing this heaven on earth.  It was hidden, not visible from any road. It had a rusty single private entry gate, and lay behind a winding dirt road that curved around the corner.

That road, I would soon discover, went on for miles with a wonderful surprise around every turn. If you never had the privilege of passing that single gate, you would never suspect what lay behind it as it is all hidden by mountains and hills, trees and valleys. A hidden gem with almost complete seclusion and immersion in nature’s beauty.  I was stunned and I was sold. I made an offer that day.
I loved the property and was looking for an investment, but I didn’t have use for all of the buildings and lodges that Stan and Linda had developed throughout the property. After much thought and consideration, I came to the conclusion that I would buy this one-of-a-kind property anyway and find a use for what has been built and continue to share its beauty with others. We are only the third owners of this beautifully unique piece of earth and my dream for it is to create something valuable that stays in my family for generations as well. Somewhere that other people can continue to transcend, for a moment at least, closer to nature, earth, and God, if you will.

Jillian’s Got It Covered

Jillian has been my partner for many years. We do not plan to marry due to our mutual philosophies, but we ironically came up with the idea of repurposing our new ranch to marry others in the unique sanctity that Triple Mountain Ranch has to offer. Hence we changed the name, rebranded it and started the renovations for our purposes. This has taken us a few years but we are finally happy for it to be coming to fruition.
Jillian has a strong history in the hospitality industry, having worked previously for resorts and both large and smaller-scale venues. The strength of our relationship and partnership is the main reason I decided to buy the property. I only wanted the land, not all that came with it. I knew with her vast experience in hospitality, she could help repurpose the property both in remodel and function.  She knows how events, weddings, catering, entertaining, etc. should be set up and how they should flow.
Jillian’s career had also taken a hit with COVID 19 restrictions, so she quit her job and joined Triple Mountain Ranch as the sole director. She is naturally very caring and personable with all of our clients and is personally invested in their experience from first contact to last guest departure. She goes above and beyond, with many personal touches to make sure our clients have the most comfortable and memorable experience possible. She sets up every room and tucks every bed. She sets up every chair, bench and table to the client’s exact specification. She is on-site and available every minute of their stay for any needs that may arise. And at the end, she breaks it all down for them. All she asks is they place refuse into the assigned receptacles, and she takes care of the rest.
Jillian has hosted dozens of successful weddings and events here at Triple Mountain Ranch and is excited to expand the range of guests and events she gets to host in this wonderful space.

Our Current Offerings

We offer more not only in beauty, amenities and experience, but also in personal relationship with our clients. They will have a good experience at Triple Mountain Ranch as we make sure of it. We are personally invested.

We currently only offer the venue assets in our packages. Clients outsource catering, DJ, photos, etc.—we do not provide these professional services. We like it better this way as it is simpler for us, starting up. We do have more assets like multiple commercial kitchens etc., that we do not currently use in the venue. This gives us the capability of offering more in the future such as in-house catering, etc. I also have daughters coming of age that are interested in photography, makeup, etc., so the property and the guests it draws may afford them unique opportunities for career advancement as well, should they desire.

Our vision is to help the world discover the hidden gem that is Triple Mountain Ranch in Clifton, TX.

We are looking forward to hosting you.
Thank you for considering our venue for your wedding or next event.

There’s surely not enough words to portray how much we love Triple Mountain Ranch. I’ll start by saying, wonderful wonderful people who own the venue, the most accommodating, caring! They genuinely want to make your event everything you want and more. The venue itself is perfect, we wanted to make sure we could accommodate our friends and family that had to make the drive and this venue accommodates 70ish which IS the most I found within 2 hours of Dallas. The cabins are adorable. The bridal and grooms suite are decorated so cute and the perfect photo op. They have multiple locations for dining, your ceremony, your reception. It’s really just the most customizable location you can find. They have 2 commercial kitchens depending on the size of your event and it was perfect for our caterer. The venue is quiet and just beautiful all around. I could go on and on for way too long but long story short, THIS IS THE VENUE FOR YOU, run and check it out now! We will most definitely find a reason to go back again.

Jillian is the best host and the property is beautiful, it was the perfect location for our daughter and SIL's wedding. Being able to stay on property for the entire weekend was not only a huge convenience for our entire family it was affordable! The only thing I would say needs an upgrade would be the mattresses on the beds, they are very uncomfortable, but being it was for just a weekend it was okay. If you need anything Jillian is available day or night, she is courteous and very responsive, so if you are like my daughter and SIL, you want hill country but without the overpriced version, Triple Mountain Ranch will be just what you are looking for. Jillian even allowed us to move her arch so we could us a special arch my husband built for our daughter and SIL.

Having our wedding at Triple Mountain Ranch was an absolutely incredible experience. My husband and I had the wedding of our dreams. Triple Mountain Ranch was the first venue I chose to pursue because they had absolutely everything we wanted and MORE! Me and my husband were so shocked with how in love we were just by looking at it one time! By the second time we decided that this was the venue we wanted!

To begin with, Jillian is a kind, lovely woman, who genuinely wanted to make our day perfect. The entire process from payment plans to organizing tables and chairs was so easy. Jillian made every effort to accommodate us in every way to make it the most special day for us. She was always quick to respond, making communication simple. All aspects of the contract were clearly explained, and the timeline / due dates were easy to follow. We held our reception in the stunning, tastefully designed Texas Room located on the venue. We had around 60 people and had plenty of room left over. The table settings were gorgeous, the lighting and interior decor was absolutely stunning. The package we had included tables, chairs, a built in bar, sound system and a dance floor! There is so much that was included also! Speaking of the packages offered, Triple Mountain Ranch has amazing options for any budget!

Triple Mountain Ranch even had a Brides get ready cabin and a Grooms get ready cabin! And OH MY GOSH these rooms were so elegant and beautiful! Especially the bride's cabin! These were absolutely beautiful and had everything you would need to get ready! From a restroom with showers to lots of mirrors! There was even a mini fridge and a microwave! Of course there was WIFI all around the venue!

For our ceremony, we were married at the Hitching field! Despite the name it was absolutely beautiful and had a gorgeous background! This ceremony area had the most beautiful white wooden benches and could seat up to 500 people! We only had around 200 so we had lots of room left over! My favorite part was the white wooden walk thru doors that were opened for guests to walk through and set and for our wedding party to walk through. When it came time for me to walk down I was able to have them closed and opened for me personally!

During the reception, we had our food buffet set up in the Bluebonnet Room which is also where we held cocktail hour for our guests while me and my husband and our families took pictures! This room had a built in bar, a commercial kitchen and a beautiful covered porch! Next to the Bluebonnet Room is where our reception was set up which was called the Event Tent! This isn't your normal tent. It was lit up with beautiful lights and chandeliers that seated up to 300 people! Next to the tent was the Courtyard that had beautiful lighting along with a fire pit, horseshoe, cornhole, basketball, volleyball, gaga ball and lots of picnic tables and benches to hangout and have fun! The amount of compliments we received on how beautiful our reception was was astronomically high! After dinner and our speeches we then moved our party into the Texas Room! This was where we had our cake cutting and dancing! This room was just so beautiful and everything we could've asked for the sound system made is easy for our Dj to set up and everything! The professional dance lighting system and fog machine made the night even more fun and just overall amazing! After all of the fun we didn't have to leave the venue or pack up and head to a hotel and neither did our family who drove into state for the wedding! Me and my husband had the privilege to stay the night in the beautiful honeymoon Cabin! This room was just amazing and so beautiful! Our favorite part about the room was the restroom! The shower was huge and just beautiful! We had our own coffee bar, fridge and microwave! Our family also had the choice to stay in the lovely on site cabins so they didn't have to leave! These cabins were absolutely beautiful and perfect for guests who lived out of state!

This beautiful venue has so much to offer when it comes to your wedding. They have sand valley ball, a fire pit, hiking trails, multiple kitchens, a dance hall with bar area, the dining tent and different options for where to have your ceremony. They also have lodging for up to 72 people and 5 RV hook ups so multiple people can stay there with you. Jillian is an amazing host who was always there to answer any of my questions, and came up with solutions if something didn’t go as planned. She truly made my time there easy and great for everyone that came. I recommend booking the whole weekend so you can really enjoy everything Triple Mountain Ranch has to offer. You will also be able to have more time to relax and enjoy your friends and family. Our wedding was such a wonderful time, we are still getting compliments from our guest who attended. I promise you will not regret booking this venue!
